Buy a large one... Mine is too small and it feels like you are tightrope walking each time you lay on it!
References :
10 feet is maybe a bit short for a 'real' hammock? I got two, two years ago from Ebay, fantastic hand made South American, but the distance between the tree and wall is about 15 feet. I dont leave them out in all weathers, I fitted heavy snap hooks to the hammock and eyebolts to the tree/wall, so I can detatch them easily. This info may help. http://www.amazonas-online.de/englisch/index.html

You should check out Trek Light Hammocks, they're made of parachute nylon which means they won't rot or mildew if left out in bad weather (they usually dry within about 3 minutes). They can easily be hung between trees that are 10 feet apart as well.

Another great feature is that they can't flip or spin like a regular rope hammock. So your kids are safe playing in the hammock and you don't have to worry about them getting flipped out and getting hurt.
